What I got for Christmas 2014

First off I would like to start by saying I haven't written this post to brag or show off or anything like that and I truly am grateful for every single present my amazing friends and family have bought for me this year: I have well and truly been spoilt. The only reason I have written this is because I'm nosey and I love seeing what everybody else got for Christmas so I thought I would put up a post with some of my favourite presents. I have to say my two favourite gifts are the fluffy clutch bag from my best friend and of course the Vice 3 palette which is absolutely ah-mazing!

Winchester Christmas Market

Winchester Christmas Markets have always been on my list of places to visit and last Sunday I was lucky enough to enough to spend a day of festivities with my beautiful blogging girls Alice, Ami, Karis and Mandy and the lovely Becky joined us after randomly bumping into her. The famous markets are set out in the Winchester Cathedral grounds which are just stunning and so festive. We were visiting on the last day of the markets so as you can imagine it was very busy but it quietened down in the afternoon.

We took a wander around all the different stalls taking in all the yummy smells and beautifully unique decorations: I love all homemade little trinkets so as you can imagine I was in my element! There was something for everyone from mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, to toasted marshmallows and candy floss. I even picked up some chocolate wine for my Mum for Christmas after a bit of haggling with the sales guy - its the perfect present for her and she absolutely loved it luckily!

After a quick selfie with Baby Jesus and the nativity scene and a last minute dash round the stalls where I grabbed the most incredible smelling candle and a pomander garland which smells so spicy and christmassy (my rooms now smells incredible), we went for a bite to eat to have a proper catch up and talk about our favourite topic - makeup! Overall Winchester was beautiful and so festive, its without a doubt the best Christmas Markets I have been to and I will definitely be revisiting again next year!

ESPA Facial

A couple of weeks ago me and the lovely Alice from Annie Writes Beauty were given the opportunity to visit the John Lewis store and receive a complimentary facial. You may have seen on my blog that back in October I attended the #sotonoctmeetup where the lovely ladies from ESPA were on hand offering skincare consultations tailored to each individuals needs and concerns. I have been using ESPA since receiving some sample products in a beauty advent calendar last year and so I was thrilled that they were attending the event and when I found the appointment card in my goodie bag I just had to book in straight away and I booked Alice in along with me.

We arrived at the ESPA stand and were greeted by the lovely Jo who we had previously met at the event. She talked us through our previous consultation to see if anything had changed and tested some products on us whilst talking us through our main skincare concerns. My main problems are dehydration and dryness, with my skin looking quite dull and tired - especially during the colder months. I was given two toners to smell to see which I prefer and I chose the Hydrating Floral Spafresh indicating my skin requires nourishment and hydration. I was then given two oils to smell and I picked the ProSerum which can be applied under moisturiser and just helps to boost the hydration and even out the skin tone.

Jo then took us to the spa room which was incredibly relaxing with candles, soft lighting and peaceful light music playing in the background all creating the perfect ambience. I went first and within minutes of getting cosy on the massage table with the softest towels I was already relaxed. As a facial newbie I was unsure what to expect but Jo talked me through each step, letting me know what products she was using and the best way to use them as well as the benefits of each product.

After a thorough cleanse to remove all make up Jo turned the lights off and used a UV light on my face to highlight any problem areas. I had dark purple under the eye and around the eyelid which  indicates dehydration and orange speckles on the creases of my nose which indicate oil build-up and congestion. Jo advised me to use an eye cream and drink plenty of water because my whole face was very dehydrated and to use a good exfoliator once a week focusing on the creases on my nose. She demonstrated products which would combat these problems and demonstrated how to use these to gain the most benefits for my skin. Then another cleanser was applied with each product thoroughly massaged into my skin. Finally a face mask was applied and left to sink in whilst I had the most relaxing arm and shoulder massage ever...at this point I was so relaxed I could have gone to sleep for the night!

Afterwards my skin literally felt reborn. It was plump, hydrated and glowing and I felt like a new person. Jo sent us away with a wonderful goodie bag filled to the brim of products including samples of products she had used on us during the facial and some new products I am very excited to try. Its safe to say ESPA are fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands and I would recommend you check them out if you haven't already and if you fancy a real treat then definitely check out their wide range of treatments.

Nars Digital World Lip Coffret

Last year Nars released Promiscuous: Lip Pencil Coffret which was absolutely stunning but it sold out before I managed to get my hands on it! I was absolutely devastated and after searching high and low on ebay but coming up with no joy I decided to sit it out and wait until this years holiday collection...boy am I glad I did.

This year Nars have released their limited edition Laced with Edge Holiday 2014 Gift Collection with each item packaged in translucent acrylic with digital lace designs printed on which definitely make a statement. The collection contains a range of palettes, lipgloss sets and a Kabuki brush set but the first piece from the collection which made its way to my door was the Digital World Lip Coffret. I first saw the collection mentioned on twitter and no sooner had pre-orders opened that I whipped out my credit card and secured a coffret for myself. The set is still available but I would recommend picking one up ASAP as this will 100% be a sell out like last year!

Inside the keepsake box are a mix of 5 satin and velvet matte lip pencils with a mixture of rich, sensual colours perfect for the holiday season. I absolutely love the formula of these pencils, they are so pigmented with a very long lasting finish. I prefer the velvet matte pencils as I find the formula more wearable, but overall I love the easy application of these, especially for a make up rookie like myself. The set contains:

Satin Lip Pencil in Descanso: Tea rose
Satin Lip Pencil in Torres Del Paine: Peach coral
Satin Lip Pencil in Yu: Shocking pink
Velvet Matte Pencil in Iberico: Intense coral
Velvet Matte Pencil in Cruella: Scarlet red

Cruella is by far my favourite, I do love a deep red I find it very easy to wear in Winter and it just finishes a look perfectly! I was also surprised at how quickly I fell in love with Iberico and Yu as these are not shades I would usually go for being outside my comfort zone but I will definitely be giving these a go! I was a bit disappointed in the other two shades as they don't really show up on me, I'm not sure whether its because of the formula or the colours but these just don't do much for me! 3/5 isn't bad though and I will 100% be picking up more of the velvet pencils come payday. As for the rest of the collection, I've definitely got my eye on the Virtual Domination Blush and Bronzer Palette and can definitely see this being my next purchase!

What do you think of the Nars limited edition collection?

Rebirth

So as some of you may have noticed my blog has had a bit of a makeover and its all thanks to the lovely Sarah at Trisarahtops Smiles. This is the first time I have used a custom blog design and definitely not my last. After searching on twitter I came across her site and after a quick look through her portfolio I just knew she was the perfect person to design my blog for me. There is a waiting list as I can imagine Sarah must get millions of requests, but I only waited about a week before I got the email saying all signs were go, go go!

Now I actually wanted to change the name of my blog as I just felt that my previous name 'Frosty Elegance' wasn't giving off the impression I wanted. I brainstormed for weeks but I couldn't find anything that fitted properly until one day I was filling in my details for the Doctors and it asked for my middle name. If you have known me a long time you will know that I use to absolutely hate my middle name and use to tell everyone I didn't have one because I disliked it so much. However, I feel like I was just being stupid and perhaps a bit childish and the name has now, not only grown on me, but I have come to love it!

Thats when I decided to simply rename my blog Tanya Noreen because I am not sure what my little space will develop into whether it be a beauty blog or fashion or a bit of both, so I wanted something that wasn't too restrictive. Sarah was so helpful and patient whilst I changed over all my social media and even though I had absolutely no idea what I wanted my blog to look like she has created something exceptional and I love my new snazzy look! She made sure I was happy at every single stage of the design and was ever so patient when I kept changing my mind, trust me I am VERY hard to please! However I feel the overall look of my blog is exactly what I was looking for and Sarah has created such a sophisticated and elegant design which I am so, so happy with!

I am now so proud of my blog and can't wait to show it off to anyone and everyone. I want to say a big thank you to Sarah for being so patient and creating such a perfect design for me in such a short space of time. Make sure you check out her portfolio here and if your in the market for a new custom design I would recommend Sarah 1000%. Her designs are all unique and affordable and I could not have asked for a lovelier lady to work with!

Smashbox VIP Bloggers Event

On Thursday I attended the Smashbox VIP Bloggers Event in the Southampton Boots to celebrate the launch of their Contour Kit. Unfortunately having gone on sale the previous day, the Southampton branch had actually sold out of the kit so I wasn't able to buy one but we all had a little play around and its been added to the mahoosive wishlist! Whilst waiting for the model to arrive we enjoyed some yummy caramel shortbread and mini muffins giving everyone a chance to have a chat and get to know each other (although most of us knew each other already). We then watched a demonstration using some of the brands most famous products including the Liquid Halo HD Foundation, the Photo Finish Foundation Primer and of course the very anticipated Contour kit. The kit was then passed around for us all to look at it in more detail and swatch each of the powders. There is only one shade range available at the moment but the three universal shades are blendable and adaptable to all skin tones!

Next up was another demonstration where Sharon volunteered to have her eye make up done using the 'On The Rocks' Photo Op Eye Shadow Palette from the 2014 Smashbox Christmas Collection. The first was a bright look using the bluey, purple and pink shades in the palette and the second was a smokey eye. I have to say I fell in love with this palette instantly and I can definitely see this making its way to my collection very soon! The shadows are so pigmented and there is a good selection of matte and shimmer shades in the palette with 28 in the large palette to choose from and 12 in the smaller palette!

The last part of the event was probably my favourite part as I love having my hair styled! Tash from Bumble & Bumble came to do a demonstration to create volume and texture using some of their products. She introduced us to their hair primers which I have never heard about before but I will 100% be checking out as a base for when I style my hair. Next was a quick spritz of the Dryspun Finish spray to help create a more full and texturised look before she began backcombing. Next step was to add some of the famous Pret a Powder to the roots before twisting into loose sections and adding the Texture Creme on the ends. The overall finished look was a very beachy, wavy, texturised look which I absolutely loved. I just need to get my hands on a paddle brush and I will be recreating this look all the time! Tash was amazing offering useful tips and guidance about different products for different hair types. She also styled Karis' hair which also looked fabulous! If your ever in Southampton and need your hair styled for an event or night out I would 110% recommend going to Tash! Overall it was a lovely evening spent with a gorgeous group of girls and a big thank you to Jo and the girls at Smashbox and Tash for organising the event!
