What I got for Christmas 2014

First off I would like to start by saying I haven't written this post to brag or show off or anything like that and I truly am grateful for every single present my amazing friends and family have bought for me this year: I have well and truly been spoilt. The only reason I have written this is because I'm nosey and I love seeing what everybody else got for Christmas so I thought I would put up a post with some of my favourite presents. I have to say my two favourite gifts are the fluffy clutch bag from my best friend and of course the Vice 3 palette which is absolutely ah-mazing!

Winchester Christmas Market

Winchester Christmas Markets have always been on my list of places to visit and last Sunday I was lucky enough to enough to spend a day of festivities with my beautiful blogging girls Alice, Ami, Karis and Mandy and the lovely Becky joined us after randomly bumping into her. The famous markets are set out in the Winchester Cathedral grounds which are just stunning and so festive. We were visiting on the last day of the markets so as you can imagine it was very busy but it quietened down in the afternoon.

We took a wander around all the different stalls taking in all the yummy smells and beautifully unique decorations: I love all homemade little trinkets so as you can imagine I was in my element! There was something for everyone from mulled wine and roasted chestnuts, to toasted marshmallows and candy floss. I even picked up some chocolate wine for my Mum for Christmas after a bit of haggling with the sales guy - its the perfect present for her and she absolutely loved it luckily!

After a quick selfie with Baby Jesus and the nativity scene and a last minute dash round the stalls where I grabbed the most incredible smelling candle and a pomander garland which smells so spicy and christmassy (my rooms now smells incredible), we went for a bite to eat to have a proper catch up and talk about our favourite topic - makeup! Overall Winchester was beautiful and so festive, its without a doubt the best Christmas Markets I have been to and I will definitely be revisiting again next year!

ESPA Facial

A couple of weeks ago me and the lovely Alice from Annie Writes Beauty were given the opportunity to visit the John Lewis store and receive a complimentary facial. You may have seen on my blog that back in October I attended the #sotonoctmeetup where the lovely ladies from ESPA were on hand offering skincare consultations tailored to each individuals needs and concerns. I have been using ESPA since receiving some sample products in a beauty advent calendar last year and so I was thrilled that they were attending the event and when I found the appointment card in my goodie bag I just had to book in straight away and I booked Alice in along with me.

We arrived at the ESPA stand and were greeted by the lovely Jo who we had previously met at the event. She talked us through our previous consultation to see if anything had changed and tested some products on us whilst talking us through our main skincare concerns. My main problems are dehydration and dryness, with my skin looking quite dull and tired - especially during the colder months. I was given two toners to smell to see which I prefer and I chose the Hydrating Floral Spafresh indicating my skin requires nourishment and hydration. I was then given two oils to smell and I picked the ProSerum which can be applied under moisturiser and just helps to boost the hydration and even out the skin tone.

Jo then took us to the spa room which was incredibly relaxing with candles, soft lighting and peaceful light music playing in the background all creating the perfect ambience. I went first and within minutes of getting cosy on the massage table with the softest towels I was already relaxed. As a facial newbie I was unsure what to expect but Jo talked me through each step, letting me know what products she was using and the best way to use them as well as the benefits of each product.

After a thorough cleanse to remove all make up Jo turned the lights off and used a UV light on my face to highlight any problem areas. I had dark purple under the eye and around the eyelid which  indicates dehydration and orange speckles on the creases of my nose which indicate oil build-up and congestion. Jo advised me to use an eye cream and drink plenty of water because my whole face was very dehydrated and to use a good exfoliator once a week focusing on the creases on my nose. She demonstrated products which would combat these problems and demonstrated how to use these to gain the most benefits for my skin. Then another cleanser was applied with each product thoroughly massaged into my skin. Finally a face mask was applied and left to sink in whilst I had the most relaxing arm and shoulder massage ever...at this point I was so relaxed I could have gone to sleep for the night!

Afterwards my skin literally felt reborn. It was plump, hydrated and glowing and I felt like a new person. Jo sent us away with a wonderful goodie bag filled to the brim of products including samples of products she had used on us during the facial and some new products I am very excited to try. Its safe to say ESPA are fast becoming one of my favourite skincare brands and I would recommend you check them out if you haven't already and if you fancy a real treat then definitely check out their wide range of treatments.
