Boots & Superdrug Haul

I have spent the last few weeks redecorating my bedroom, finding a home for all my worldly possessions and neatly organising my over flowing makeup collection. So after a massive clear out I decided to treat myself to a few new items - some I've been debating about for a while, and some new releases which I just couldn't resist. First on my list was the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara as I saw this pop up on my Instagram everywhere when it was first released and I love the look it created. Its safe to say I fell in love with this after one use, and this has firmly become my go-to mascara.

As you can see the main theme for this haul is contouring/ bronzing products as I am loving a more chiseled look at the moment. I recently saw Sarah Ashcroft mention the Bourjois Bronzing Primer in one of her recent videos and after seeing the finished look I just knew I had to try this out for myself. First impressions are good, in fact very good - this gives my skin a gorgeous bronzed glow to apply my base on and once all blended together gives the most flawless, glowing look. Next up are two contour palettes, and yes although I don't actually need both, I wanted to try out a few and see which worked best for me. I already have the Sleek Face Form Contour kit but in the shade medium and although I love the highlighter and blusher within the kit, the contour shade is slightly too dark so I decided to pick up the Sleek Face Contour Kit Duo in Light to see if the shades are more suitable. The Barry M Contour Kit is fairly new on the shelves and although there is only one shade range available this palette is so affordable and I am yet to try something from Barry M I do not like. I will be reporting back after thorough use of each of these but after swatching on the back of my hand I can see them both being a success.

Makeup Revolution are fast becoming one of my favourite brands and I have a wish list as long as my arm at the moment, but when I saw these dupes for the Too Faced Sweethearts Blushes I had to stop myself from adding them all to my basket. I picked up the shade 'Peachy Keen' which is a gorgeous mixture of peach, champagne and pink which when swirled together leave the most gorgeous, warm flush on the cheeks. At only £4.99 these are a complete bargain and with so many shades to choose from including bronzers and highlighters I will be definitely be picking up more.

Finally are two products for the eyes because what haul would be complete without a new eyeshadow. Pink is a colour that I tend to steer away from mainly because I just don't think it would suit me but in recent months I find myself gravitating towards a lot of pink makeup. I've started experimenting more with colours on my eyes and this eyeshadow has the perfect amount of gold shimmer with pinky undertones allowing me to blend over the eyelid and wear alone for a natural everyday look. Last but not least is the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner which I have to say is a real game changer for me. Cat flicks are the one technique I don't think I will ever be able to perfect, if I can manage a flick that isn't as thick as my finger and halfway down my face I consider it a success but most of the time I just give up and simply line the top lash line. One of the girls at work always has the most perfect flicks and neatest liner and she swears by the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. I didn't really want to splurge £18 on a product I didn't think I would even be able to use so I decided to try a slightly more affordable option and my god was I pleasantly surprised. Using the brush that comes with the product I can create the neatest, sharpest line and I've even managed to sport a slight flick a handful of times. For me personally I find a brush a thousand times easier to control than a pen and the lasting power is spot on. If you struggle with liquid liner I would 100% recommend trying a gel liner as they are a real game changer in my eyes and I know swear by mine!

Lush | Granny Takes A Dip

I recently saw someones post about this ballistic on Instagram and instantly I knew I had to get my hands on it as soon as possible! Lush has fast become my favourite store and I seem to spend hours in there sniffing everything and snooping around to see whats new...I'm pretty much a regular now! I love the fact everything is handmade with only natural ingredients used as it means I can pretty much use anything from lush without having to worry about my overly sensitive skin.

The first thing I noticed about this ballistic is the smell - with a mix of ginger, pepper and lemon strangely this holds a strong resemblance to sherbert. Although very sweet, the smell is comforting with a soft, warming, citrus scent in the background. Next thing is without a doubt the brightness - so much so you almost need sunglasses to stare at this psychedelic bomb! The colours used are bright and vivid with a fluorescent pink exterior, followed by a baby blue and deep cherry red middle and a bright green centre. I also feel I need to comment on the size of this ballistic as it literally is the size of my hand: you definitely wouldn't be able to walk past this in lush without taking a second look.

I dropped the bomb into my warm running bath and watch as it slowly fizzed around with the extraordinary colours erupting from all angles. The bomb sits on the surface of the water so you can watch as the streams of each colour begin pouring out. Eventually after several minutes, once the ballistic is completely dissolved, the bath is left a stunning violet-y, pink-y colour leaving you to relax and unwind in a bath fit for a princess. There is a subtle peppery fragrance to this bomb with a very warming and uplifting scent leaving me very refreshed and relaxed afterwards.

Overall I would recommend this ballistic to anybody who loves colourful, unique bath bombs. My only gripe was the scent didn't last very long but then I am not a fan of overpowering smells so I still thoroughly enjoyed my relaxing bath and my skin is so, so soft now. You could easily split this bath bomb and use for two baths at just £3.35 its an utter bargain!

InStyle Best Beauty Buys

InStyle's Best Beauty Buys is one of the most important events in the industry's calendar with over 100 industry experts including make-up artists, hairstylists and dermatologists voting for their winners in a range of categories. This year InStyle teamed up with John Lewis for an exclusive meet and greet with the InStyle Beauty Team with demonstrations, all the low down on the winning products and a Q&A session. After hearing about the event from my good friend Alice, I was lucky enough to snap up a ticket for the Southampton event before they sold out. After a quick snack and catch up over fresh orange juice and tea at the recently opened EBB & Flow we made our way to West Quay for the start of the event.

The evening started with drinks and canap├ęs served in the restaurant on the top floor where there were demonstrations and massages available from various brands including Clarins, Liz Earle and Mac. Then we all took our seats as Cassie Steer, InStyle's Beauty Director and Catherine Scale, Acting Beauty Assistant took their seats at the front and the event began. They discussed 5 of their favourite products each from the winning selection and a handful of other products before opening up the floor for any questions. A variety of people asked questions mainly around skincare and I learnt a lot of useful and valuable tips - mainly that I need to stop being so lazy and use a serum and a moisturiser and not just a moisturiser!

After the talk we ventured back downstairs to the Beauty hall where we collected our luxury goody bag and were able to redeem our £10 ticket price against any beauty purchase made. I opted for the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer as I have read some incredible reviews about this and a good friend of Alice's recommended it to me and so far I am absolutely loving it and so happy I opted for this over the brown Mac lipstick I was debating over for ages. I also picked up a sample of the Dior foundation of my choice as part of the event and I picked up the Diorskin Forever Flawless Perfection Foundation in the shade Honey Beige. I've only managed to use this foundation once and I have mixed feelings about this so I will keep you updated.

Overall I really enjoyed the event and it was nice to be given the opportunity to pick the brains of some of the leading experts in the industry. I think everyone in the audience learnt a trick or two and I will be keeping my eye out for any future events similar to this. Make sure you check out the InStyle website for more recommendations and beauty tips!

Lush Easter Collection 2015

[Fluffy Egg]

[Golden Egg]

It is no secret that I love absolutely everything from lush: from the bath bombs to the face masks to the shampoo bars...there really is very little that I don't like!! With Easter right around the corner and many of us giving up chocolate for lent, what better way to treat yourself then to pick up some new bits from Lush's Easter collection. Last week I was lucky enough to attend a preview of this collection at the Lush Southampton store with some of my favourite bloggers.

This year see's the return of many old favourites including the Carrot Soap, Bunch of Carrots, Fluffy Egg and Immaculate Eggception. This year also sees the return of my absolute favourite the Golden Egg which is a slow bath melt, covered in gold glitter with the most heavenly toffee-honey scent. Ive already picked up two of these and I can see me going through a lot more before they disappear again.

There are also three new products added to the range this year: Pot O' Gold Shower Jelly, Somewhere Over the Rainbow Soap and Hoppity Poppity Ballistic. The shower jelly smells divine and leaves the most gorgeous golden shimmer on the skin before being washed off and the soap is so colourful and bright with a light, citrus scent. Hoppity Poppity is the cutest little bunny bath bomb with popping candy inside and a refreshing parma violet scent. I love absolutely everything in this collection and I am just counting down the days until payday when I can pick up the rest of the range.

Have you tried any of Lush's Easter collection?

February Lookfantastic Beauty Box

As a blogger trying out new and different products has become part of everyday life and so beauty boxes are the perfect solution to this thirst for more. Although I like the idea of a monthly beauty box service, I do not like the idea of a rolling contract and prefer to pick a box based on what products are inside to make sure I am getting my money's worth. The Lookfantastic box has been around for a few months now and I see it all over the blogosphere at the beginning of every month so finally last month I finally took the plunge and ordered a box. Lets just say I was very far from disappointed and you can see my full review of the box here.

Each month Lookfantastic release a big reveal about the next months box and after seeing the February box would contain a Moroccanoil Original Oil Treatment (25ml) worth £13.45 I was pretty much sold! I pre-ordered and awaited the beginning of the month for my box to arrive. I have to say this is probably verging on THE best beauty box I have received to date and for only £15 when the value of the contents is £48 you would be stupid not to snap one up right away! The box contained:

Moroccanoil Original Oil Treatment
Korres Citrus Little Body Milk
Monu Professional Skincare Illuminating Primer SPF 15
Dr Paw Paw Original Balm
Bellapiere Eyeliner Pencil
Erno Laszo Mud Deep Cleansing Bar

Moroccanoil is a brand I am yet to try but I have heard only good things about so I am very excited to finally have a treatment to try out and I will keep you posted on how I get on with this product. The Korres body care ranges are without a doubt my favourite and the citrus scent is so refreshing and calming I absolutely love it! After stocking up on the shower gel, my body milk started running out but this should keep me going until I order some more. Another product I have previously tried and absolutely love is the Monu primer. From first use a love affair started with this product as it left my skin looking so dewy and radiant, my skin literally looks like its glowing. With the extravagant price tag this is not something I could justify buying over and over but luckily a small amount goes a long way so this should keep me going until I add a full sized  primer to my collection!

Multipurpose balms are such a must have product especially in these colder months when skin dries out quicker than normal. Dr. Paw Paw is a brand I have seen mentioned on some of my favourite blogs so I am excited to finally be able to try it out for myself and see how it compares to other balms. So far I love how nourishing and soothing this is on the lips and I can see this tube lasting a very long time as a little goes a long way. The most exciting product in the box for me is the cleansing bar. Erno Laszo is a brand completely new to me and the idea of a solid cleansing bar is a completely new concept entirely. The bar is made using 97% natural ingredients and enriched with Dead Sea mud which detoxifies, hydrates and restores the skin's mineral levels. I am very intrigued to try this out as an alternative to my usual exfoliator and liquid cleanser.

The last item is again a brand I have not heard of before but you can't go wrong with: a black eyeliner. Overall I am very impressed with the contents of this box and I love the variety of skincare, haircare and makeup included. If you want to get your hands on the February box you can do so here but be quick as its sure to be a sell out.

My 24th Birthday

For those of you who didn't know three weeks ago it was my 24th birthday and I wanted to put together a quick post detailing everything I did during my weekend off work, more for myself to look back on and reminisce in the coming years. On my actual birthday I went for afternoon tea at the Forbury Hotel in Reading with some of my work colleagues which was wonderful! The finger sandwich's were delicious and the selection of cakes and scones was truly scrumptious - I would highly recommend going for afternoon tea if you have never been before. Next up was a spot of shopping before birthday cake and pre drinks at mine before the big night out. Its safe to say this card from my brother is right: hangover's definitely get worse with age!

On the Friday I went for dinner and a few cocktails with two of my best friends at Las Iguanas where we feasted on nachos, fajitas, quesadilla and taquito's! This is my first time dining here and I am very impressed the food was insanely good and with Mexican being my favourite, I have tried a lot before but not many places compare. We spent the evening chatting away over cocktails before grabbing an early night before a long day pampering with my Muma.

Saturday was the last day of my birthday celebrations and after a relaxing pamper session with my Mum it was off to Miller and Carter Steakhouse for a family meal. This place has crazy, good reviews and although the service wasn't great the food really made up for it. My steak was cooked to perfection and so tender...its making my mouth water just thinking about it!! Without a doubt this has to be the BEST steak I have ever have, I can see me becoming a regular customer here. After the meal I popped home for a quick change before a night of dancing and tequila with my best friend and partner in crime. All in all a wonderful weekend spent laughing and eating good food with amazing company - what else could a girl ask for!

Lush Mother's Day Collection 2015

Each year Lush never let us down with their various collections keeping us pampered all year around. With this year flying by and Mother's Day just around the corner I wanted to show you some what I picked up to try from this year's range and some of the new products introduced which includes a range of new bath bombs and bath melts, fresh scented soaps and a luxurious body conditioner.

First up are two old favourites Rose Bubble Bar and Secret Garden Bath Bomb. Rose is a dinky little bubble bar with Turkish rose to soothe the spirits and cocoa butter to soften the skin. This is quite affordable at only £2.95 but due to its size you could probably only get one use out of this. Secret Garden is a small bath bomb filled with rose petals which leaves your bath water a deep green colour with a soft rose scent.

Next up are two new bubble bars added to the Mother's Day range this year Mother Superior and Ultraviolet. They are both quite large bubble bars and you could easily get a handful of uses out of each one especially Ultraviolet. Mother Superior is a cute little nun carrying the cherry blossom aroma similar to the Sakura bath bomb. When crumbled under running water this creates mounds of bubbles turning the water a frosty blue colour. Ultraviolet is my favourite from this collection with its sweet but earthy scent very similar to parma violets. This turns the water a vibrant purple with a gorgeous shimmer running through it leaving you feeling relaxed and calm after a long stressful day. If you pick up anything from this range make sure you pick up one of these!

The Rose Bombshell is a new bath bomb introduced this year which contains dried rose buds which float up to the surface of the bath tub and float around you while you relax. This contains soya milk and turkish oils which help to soften the skin with its mature, musky smell helping you to unwind and relax. The cutest addition to this years collection has to be the Bubblegrub Bubbleroon with its strong earthy fragrance which is both sweet but smoky, you will either love it or hate it. I was unsure about the smell but when I used this in the bath I absolutely loved it and the slight shimmer is a lovely added touch. At only £2.95 this little guy was just far too cute to pass up!

The range also includes the Love Your Mum Soap, Yummy Mummy Shower Gel and the Yummy Mummy Body Conditioner. I am not keen on the scent of this particular shower gel and soap is something I do not really use so I didn't pick either of these up but I absolutely love the smell of the soap and the body conditioner is so thick and luxurious its definitely a real treat for the skin. If your not sure what to pick up why not treat your Mum to one of the three gift sets available containing a variety products perfect for pampering.

Have you tried anything from the Mother's Day Collection yet?
