The Tenth Hole

Now as some of you may or may not know I am a bit of a cake fiend and after hearing the girls raving about The Tenth Hole in Southsea I just knew I had to check it out. So a few weeks ago me and the girls headed down to Portsmouth to sample some cake and enjoy the beautiful sunshine. The tearoom itself is attached to a nine hole golf course, located close to Southsea seafront. There was a queue when we arrived and the tearoom itself was heaving but we didn't have to wait long for a table and considering there was 7 of us I was quite impressed.

We opted to try the savoury options first and I had the breakfast burger which really hit the spot, although I had a bit of food envy over Karis' mac'n'cheese with bacon it looked so good! After filling up on some brunch we opted for take away cake to ensure we had our sugar fix for the day sorted. There was so, so much to chose from including a Victoria sponge, peanut butter brownies, banoffee pie and even a mars cheesecake. We were all in our element and after much deliberation I decided on the Oreo brownie which was mouth is watering now just thinking about it.

If your ever around Southsea and fancy a cake fix I would 1000% recommend a visit to this little tea room to check out their huge selection! They have a variety of hot and cold drinks available including fruit teas and the most instagramable hot chocolate I have ever seen, and they even do afternoon tea which I HAVE to check out at some point. I'm already planning my next visit and I suggest you all do the same!

Debenhams Beauty Gala

A few weeks ago myself, Alice and Amy made our way to Basingstoke for their storewide beauty gala event. Upon arrival we were greeted by refreshments and canap├ęs before the lovely Davina took us round the event explaining to us what each counter was doing. There was so much going on and it was nice to see all the counters and staff had made such an effort to get involved in the festivities. Clarins were doing skincare consultations and facials, while the girls over at Benefit were all about the brows! There was a contour masterclass with the ladies at YSL showcasing their new Summer Collection Moroccan Nights, and the girls over at Urban Decay showed us how to create the perfect day to night look.

It was so nice to attend an event with beauty enthusiasts alike and we spent a good few hours discussing all things makeup and skincare, I even managed to meet another blogger, Hannah, whilst she was teaching me how to fill in my brows at the Benefit counter. The event itself was organised perfectly and all the staff we met were welcoming and friendly and keen to share their knowledge and tips with us all. Both me and Alice were lucky enough to walk away with raffle prizes courtesy of Clinique and Benefit, on top of the wonderful goody bags which were kindly given to us by Davina.

Overall the Basingstoke really took care of us whilst we were there and Davina, Lyndsey and all the other staff members involved should be so proud of what they have achieved as the event was a booming success. I look forward to seeing what future events they hold but in the meantime I will be popping in to pick up everything on my ever growing wish list.

A few weeks ago I was kind enough to be invited to the Solent Graduate Fashion Show at St. Mary's Football Stadium organised by the lovely Jessica Duke and Shannon Diment. Upon arrival at the stadium we followed the crowds up to the show room containing displays of work from various courses within the fashion show. There was the opportunity to browse through some of the final projects of various fashion courses and to meet some of the students before heading onto the main event.

We made our way into the main suite where we were greeted by refreshments and a show guide for the evenings events. After a quick stop for raffle tickets after eyeing up some of the amazing prizes on offer we quickly resumed our seats, eagerly awaiting the start of the show. The fashion show was a chance for final year students to showcase their final collections exclusively to their fellow students, industry professionals, friends and family.

The show opened with Jessica Barton's colourful collection of clashing and contrasting prints layered with different textures and vibrant, energetic colours. I love the colour palette used in this collection and need to get my hands on a pair of these sandals asap! The showcase continued with a variety of different concepts used for both men and women with some extraordinary designs that every single student should be proud of. The collections were all in themselves refreshing and individual and there was little I didn't like. The glamorous day to night look created for the catwalk by Bobbi Brown complimented each collection perfectly with fresh glowing skin, a glossy eyelid and paired down lip. The show itself ran perfectly with absolutely zero flaws and a very professional feel: Jess and Shannon should both be incredibly proud of what they have achieved as the show was packed and ran like clockwork. Congratulations to all students involved in the event and thank you for inviting me along to such a fabulous evening.

My favourite collections of the evening are from Xinya Li and Lauren Hawkins as I just love every single piece within each of their collections and think the pieces are a lot more wearable and fluid. The pieces would all comfortably fit into my style and I think both collections are completely unique of anything else available in stores at the moment. Its safe to say I would've purchased several pieces had I been given the opportunity.

What was your favourite collection of the night?

5 Minute Morning Routine

We all have those days where its half eight, we have to be at work in half an hour and we've woken up with the most horrendous bags under our me this is a regular occurrence for me. I am the kind of girl that would rather snooze my alarm and have the extra half hour ten minutes in bed instead of the fancy winged eyeliner or chiseled cheekbones. I work in a restaurant so my shifts are constantly changing and I can go from closing one night to opening the next day, leaving me with only a few hours sleep and a mission motivating myself to get out of bed in the morning.

On these particular days where I find myself over-snoozing and waking up all flustered and in a hurry there are a few trusty products I turn to to help speed up my morning routine. Skincare is very important to me and I always make sure to cleanse, tone and moisturise no matter how late I wake up. If I've literally got seconds before I need to be out the door I will slap on a thin layer of lip balm, some concealer and a coat of mascara before leaving and making a dash for it. Although my skin really appreciates these no make-up days, I do not, as I much prefer a higher coverage during the day to even out my skin tone and cover any redness and blemishes! As a result of being a fully pledged workaholic I have perfected my 5 minute make-up routine for those mornings when time is not on my side.

First off I apply the Laura Mercier Secret Concealer with my ring finger under my eyes and then I blend the Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturiser all over with either my fingers or a buffing brush (it usually depends which brush is hanging around my vanity). I then use my Nars Blush/ Bronzer Duo in 'Laguna' and 'Orgasm' to apply a flush of pink to my cheeks and warm up my face. I am loving my Sephora Collection Double Down Brush Set at the moment as they are really good quality, compact brushes, which I can just chuck in my bag and take with me if need be.

Next up is eyes and I don't tend to wear eyeshadow on a daily basis mainly due to time constraints but If I do fancy a wash of colour I simply add a light wash of the Maybelline Colour Tattoo Cream Eyeshadows with my fingertip and blend out with my Sephora brushes. My current favourite is 'Pink Gold' which is a cool toned gold with pink undertones which when applied to the eye leaves the most gorgeous and subtle shimmer perfect for everyday wear. Next up is mascara and I've found Benefit's Rollerlash is the best to use when I'm in a rush because I don't need to curl my eyelashes before as the specially designed brush grabs, separates, lifts and curls the lashes for me with long-lasting results. Finally to finish off my makeup I add a quick coat of the Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in the shade 'Raplumsel' and I'm ready to rock.

So there we have my 5 minute morning routine, what products do you reach for when your getting ready in a rush?
