2014 was the year I really focused on my skincare routine and started branching out and trying new make up looks. No matter how much eye shadow or waterproof mascara I caked onto my eyelids the Garnier Micellar Water always managed to remove it without hassle – a definite rival for the holy grail bioderma. This year I tried my first Lush bath bomb and its safe to say I am a Lush convert, I barely have a bath without one now. My favourite of all time has to Lord of Misrule as I think the mix of spicy and sweet scents is the perfect combination and so relaxing! These were released for Halloween and I was devastated they were only on sale for a month but I have stocked up and hopefully I can make them last until next October. This was also the year I finally got my hands on the Emporio Armani Cityglam For Her which I have been trying to get my hands on FOREVER. This is without a doubt my favourite perfume of all time and I am so glad I finally got my hands on another bottle.
I have to say I fell in love with Smashbox over 2014 adding 2 palettes, their primer, foundation, mascara and eyeliner to my collection – all of which are incredible. The Photo-finish Foundation Primer is flawless and always creates a smooth, even base to apply my make up. It extends the longevity of my makeup base and leaves my skin looking airbrushed and perfect. My all time favourite foundation has to be the Benefit Hello Flawless foundation which teamed with the Smashbox primer creates the most flawless base. I always get compliments on how amazing my skin looks when I wear this combo and I literally feel a million dollars as my skin looks so perfect! I am not a big blusher fan but I found the Revlon Highlighting Palette‘s give the perfect mix of highlight and colour to my cheeks with the Rose Glow perfect for creating a warm flush of colour and the Bronze Glow perfect for a more bronzed, contoured look.
During Winter my lips and hands are without doubt my most affected areas. My lips get so chapped and dehydrated and my hands get so dry and rough. I’ve tried a whole host of different hand creams but nothing even compares to the Bee Good Intensive Hand Repair. This stuff is like rehydration in a bottle, its not greasy at all and leaves my hands so smooth and nourished its definitely in my top 5 Winter saviours. As for my lips i’ve found the perfect duo is to exfoliate and buff the dead skin away with Lush Santa’s Lip Scrub which leaves my skin so soft and smooth, and then to apply the Dr Lipp Original Nipple Balm for Lips. This stuff is ah-mazing if you haven’t tried it you really are missing out! It leaves the lips so moisturised and plump without being too sticky or greasy and it lasts all night so you wake up and your lips still feel hydrated and smooth.
I’ve never really been a big lipstick fan but following the release of the Revlon Colourburst matte balms I have been totally sold on the lip pencil craze. I didn’t think I could fall in love with a product more than the Maybelline Colour Drama lip pencils! The pigmentation is incredible and although I have only tried a handful of shades, they are so long-lasting and moisturising with a lovely matte finish. My favourite colour has to be Berry Much which is a gorgeous deep purple which really compliments my skin tone.
2014 was the year I finally visited New York thanks to my incredible Mummy for THE best graduation present. While I was there I picked up quite a few beauty products (see my haul post here) mainly recommendations from other bloggers and a couple of products I have seen everybody raving about. The Kat Von D Tattoo Liner is one of those products which fully deserves the hype surrounding it. I am a winged eyeliner beginner but I have found the thin nib on this liner aids in controlling the line to slowly build up the desired thickness: A must have in any winged liner’s make up collection. While in New York I also picked up one of the Nars Satin Lip Pencil’s in Palais Royal which is a dark berry-red perfect for my skin tone and so pigmented and rich. I will 100% be adding more of these to my collection as I think they are absolutely spot on and well worth the price tag.
Finally has to be the Co Lab Dry Shampoo which is miles ahead of all other dry shampoo’s I have tried and trust me I have tried millions. I am currently working as a waitress which means long hours and shoving my hair up daily with little time to wash or straighten and style my hair. Dry shampoo has become my best friend and the release of Co Lab finally saw a product which has the perfect grit to it for adding volume to my hair without leaving a greasy residue or a grey tinge. So affordable and each scent is heavenly I would defo recommend checking these out if you haven’t already!
