I have spent the last few weeks redecorating my bedroom, finding a home for all my worldly possessions and neatly organising my over flowing makeup collection. So after a massive clear out I decided to treat myself to a few new items – some I’ve been debating about for a while, and some new releases which I just couldn’t resist. First on my list was the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara as I saw this pop up on my Instagram everywhere when it was first released and I love the look it created. Its safe to say I fell in love with this after one use, and this has firmly become my go-to mascara.
As you can see the main theme for this haul is contouring/ bronzing products as I am loving a more chiseled look at the moment. I recently saw Sarah Ashcroft mention the Bourjois Bronzing Primer in one of her recent videos and after seeing the finished look I just knew I had to try this out for myself. First impressions are good, in fact very good – this gives my skin a gorgeous bronzed glow to apply my base on and once all blended together gives the most flawless, glowing look. Next up are two contour palettes, and yes although I don’t actually need both, I wanted to try out a few and see which worked best for me. I already have the Sleek Face Form Contour kit but in the shade medium and although I love the highlighter and blusher within the kit, the contour shade is slightly too dark so I decided to pick up the Sleek Face Contour Kit Duo in Light to see if the shades are more suitable. The Barry M Contour Kit is fairly new on the shelves and although there is only one shade range available this palette is so affordable and I am yet to try something from Barry M I do not like. I will be reporting back after thorough use of each of these but after swatching on the back of my hand I can see them both being a success.
Makeup Revolution are fast becoming one of my favourite brands and I have a wish list as long as my arm at the moment, but when I saw these dupes for the Too Faced Sweethearts Blushes I had to stop myself from adding them all to my basket. I picked up the shade ‘Peachy Keen’ which is a gorgeous mixture of peach, champagne and pink which when swirled together leave the most gorgeous, warm flush on the cheeks. At only £4.99 these are a complete bargain and with so many shades to choose from including bronzers and highlighters I will be definitely be picking up more.
Finally are two products for the eyes because what haul would be complete without a new eyeshadow. Pink is a colour that I tend to steer away from mainly because I just don’t think it would suit me but in recent months I find myself gravitating towards a lot of pink makeup. I’ve started experimenting more with colours on my eyes and this eyeshadow has the perfect amount of gold shimmer with pinky undertones allowing me to blend over the eyelid and wear alone for a natural everyday look. Last but not least is the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner which I have to say is a real game changer for me. Cat flicks are the one technique I don’t think I will ever be able to perfect, if I can manage a flick that isn’t as thick as my finger and halfway down my face I consider it a success but most of the time I just give up and simply line the top lash line. One of the girls at work always has the most perfect flicks and neatest liner and she swears by the Bobbi Brown Gel Liner. I didn’t really want to splurge £18 on a product I didn’t think I would even be able to use so I decided to try a slightly more affordable option and my god was I pleasantly surprised. Using the brush that comes with the product I can create the neatest, sharpest line and I’ve even managed to sport a slight flick a handful of times. For me personally I find a brush a thousand times easier to control than a pen and the lasting power is spot on. If you struggle with liquid liner I would 100% recommend trying a gel liner as they are a real game changer in my eyes and I know swear by mine!
