As some of you may or may not know I am a bit of a cake fiend and after hearing the girls raving about The Tenth Hole Southsea I just knew I had to pop down and check it out. A few weeks ago a group of us headed down to Portsmouth for the day to have a wander round and sample some of their famous cake. The tearoom itself is attached to a nine hole golf course, located close to Southsea seafront. There was a queue when we arrived and the place was absolutely heaving but we didn’t have to wait long for a table and considering there was 7 of us we were all quite impressed.
We opted to try the savoury options first and I had Billy’s Breakfast Burger which was a pork & leak sausagemeat burger with crispy bacon and a fried egg in a toasted muffin. It really hit the spot and filled me up all afternoon although I did have a bit of food envy over Karis’ Mac’n’Cheese with bacon which both looked and smelled INCREDIBLE!
After filling up on some brunch we were all pretty full so we opted for take away cake to ensure we had our sugar fix for the day sorted. After all, we didn’t come all that way to not sample any of the famous cakes. There was so, so much to chose from including a classic Victoria sponge, peanut butter brownies, banoffee pie and even a mars cheesecake. We were all in our element and after much deliberation I decided on the Oreo brownie which was incredible…my mouth is watering now just thinking about it.
The Tenth Hole Southsea offers a large brunch menu which is served until noon, afterwards you can try their light lunch or sandwich menu. If you’re ever around Southsea and fancy a cake fix I would 1000% recommend a visit to this little tea room to check out their huge selection! They have a variety of hot and cold drinks available including fruit teas, coffee and the most delicious hot chocolate. They even do afternoon tea which I NEED to check out at asap!
