If you saw my previous post about the Jouer Lip Crème’s you will know that I am a massive fan! Finally a pigmented, long-lasting liquid lipstick that does not budge on my lips or dry them out leaving them irritated or flaky. Full sized they are only £15 each which when you consider the quality and the formula is an absolute steal. After first noticing the holiday sets when perusing Instagram, I went straight to the Jouer website and to my horror they were all sold out. I added myself to the waitlist and then researched taxes and fees to ship to the UK. Literally 2 days later what should arrive straight into my inbox? A new in from Cult Beauty newsletter featuring the entire holiday collection! It was a sign so of course I jumped at the chance and soon enough the Best of Metallics and Best of Lip Toppers were soon on their way to me (well..my mum’s house by mistake but luckily she doesn’t live too far).
The first set I knew I wanted to get my hands on and was the Best of Metallics set which retails for £24 and contains 6 shades:
Bronze Rose – metallic cool deep rose
Citronade Rose – metallic ballet pink
Clove – metallic warm deep burgandy brown
Papaye – metallic warm peach
Praline – metallic cool bronzed pink
Snapdragon – metallic cool frosty plum
I am not an everyday lipstick wearer, I usually opt for a simple lip balm or gloss, so when I do go all out and add a lip colour to my look, I look for something vibrant and bright. Because I don’t reach for lipsticks everyday I often begrudge buying full sized products as I know I will never come close to finishing them. Inside the set each mini lip crème is 2ml which is a third of the full size, so you do get a decent amount of product for your money. Mini sets like this are perfect for someone like me as it means I can try out all the shades I like and mix and match without splurging too much at once (it is Christmas after all). So far Clove and Snapdragon are firm favourites which I reach for first out of this selection.
If your looking for a product that will last all afternoon with very little need to top up then look no further. Surviving through coffee, breakfast and a long afternoon in the cold winter air, these badboy’s lasted without a flake in sight. The nourishing formula is enriched with coconut oil and vitamin E which help to protect your lips whilst delivering a standout festive metallic finish. I am so glad I picked up this set as I know I will get so much use out of it, I’ve even fallen in love with Citronade Rose which is a baby pink and is something I would NEVER normally choose to wear but the lightweight formula means I can build up to the finish that I want without any caking or fading.
The second set I picked up was the Best of Lip Toppers (£29) set which I first saw on instagram and I decided there and then that I had to have it. This set includes:
Stardust – metallic shimmering golden coral *NEW*
Sugarplum – shimmering wine with golden fleck *NEW*
Frost Bite – metallic shimmering snowy pearl
Rose Gold – metallic shimmering rose gold
St. Tropez – metallic shimmering champagne
Tan Lines – metallic shimmering bronze
Skinny Dip – metallic shimmering golden nude
Now as I have already said I am much more a gloss wearer than a liquid lipstick wearer so when I saw these I HAD to have them. Again each lip topper is 2ml which is a decent amount of product and these are the perfect size to just throw in a clutch bag for all those Christmas Parties. What I like most about these toppers is that they can be worn over the top of other lipsticks to add a bit of razzle dazzle or they can be worn alone and built up to a sparkling, shimmering finish.
Perfect for the festive season theres a shade in this set for everyone. With the added bonus that they are enriched with jojoba seeds and Vitamin E which both condition and protect the lips through the colder weather. The lightweight formula is easy to build, simply apply a thin layer, wait briefly for this to dry and add another layer over the top. I can’t stop wearing the two new shades Stardust and Sugarplum which have just the right amount of pigmentation to add a sheer wash of colour to the lips for everyday wear.
Overall, the nourishing, non-sticky formula of these is one of the best I have found and I am still totally in love with the sweet vanilla frosting scent they carry. The doe foot applicator makes these so easy to just swipe on and go and the weightless formula means they are so comfortable to wear. The holiday collection also features a Best of Nudes (£30) and a Best of Deeps (£24) set but I opted not to pick these up as I am not the biggest fan of a matte lip on myself and I wanted something that packed a little more punch.
Have you picked up anything from the Jouer Christmas range?
