Postcards from Budapest

I fell in love with Budapest the moment I first stepped foot in this charming city and I’ve been having a love affair with it ever since. Since first visiting in 2016, we’ve been back twice and every single time I go I fall in love with the city even more. From the beautiful architecture to the ancient history, there is so much to do its not wonder this place is fast becoming a favourite spot for a European City break.

Budapest is truly magical from the winding, narrow streets of Buda to the urban, central side of Pest, all year round you will find truly breathtaking sites. The best way to explore the city is on foot especially if you’re exploring Buda and its many charming streets. You’ll find some incredible spots to stop for a bite to eat on your way to Buda castle and the views from Fisherman’s Bastion of the Parliament building are sensational. If panoramic views are your thang then make sure you leave time to trek up to Gellért Hill for scenic views of the city.

Some of my favourite spots in Pest include the Parliament Building, Széchenyi Thermal Baths, the City Park of Budapest and St Stephen’s Square. If you are only in the city for 24 hours you have to see the iconic Parliament building which is the third largest in the world. If you’ve got the time, book yourself onto a guided tour where you explore the inside of the building and see the Main Staircase, the Hungarian Coronation Jewels and the Lounges. We found the best way to explore the city is by foot, without much of a plan but just getting lost on the vast avenue’s you find on every corner.
