When it comes to my makeup my weakness has, and always will be highlighters. They are the one thing I am happy to splurge on and despite the fact that I have over 20 in my collection already, I just can’t stop myself from buying even more. I usually opt for palettes over single shades because I like having different choices and lots of variety and some of the palettes I have contain colours I wouldn’t have picked out myself but actually really compliment my skin. My holy grail drug store highlighters and in fact the only drugstore highlights in my entire collection are all from Sleek. They tick every single box, have so much pigment and really last on the skin compared to other drug store brands I’ve tried. I find a lot of the cheaper formulas are chalky and bulked out with glitter but the Sleek palettes are up there with some of the best for formulation and for pay out. I know it’s only a matter of time before I end up with the Cleopatra’s Kiss and Copperplate in my collection but for now I’ll talk you through the three I currently have.
This was the first palette I added to my collection and is definitely my favourite out of the three. Firstly the packaging is a swish rose gold mirrored palette featuring four shades and a mini powder brush. Suitable for all skin tones the palette contains one silky shimmer powder, one luxurious cream formula and two baked powders.
- Ecliptic – light/ medium rose pink with warm undertones
- Hemisphere – cooler pinky lavender with luminous sheen
- Subsolar – light yellow with warm undertones and pearly sheen
- Equinox – light/ medium coppery peach with warm undertones and metallic sheen
What I love the most is this is suitable for face and body so not only can you use to highlight the inner corners of the eyes, the brow bones and the cheek bones, but you can also use down the centre of the arms and across the décolletage. All the shades blend into the skin like a dream and are super buildable but the two baked powders steal the show for me.
After trying out the cream formula in the Solstice palette, I just couldn’t help myself from picking up the Precious Metals palette as well. I love using the cream formulas for a more natural look and I find these give my skin much more of a natural glow. This time housed in a grey mirrored packaging, the palette contains four shades again; three of their luxurious velvet cream formula and one powder.
- Platinum – white shimmer with pink reflects
- Royal Gold – warm gold champagne with silver flecks
- Renaissance Gold – pale champagne with gold reflects
- Antique Bronze – golden bronze with specks of golden shimmer
As you can probably guess from the name, every shade in this palette has an iridescent, metallic finish which make your skin look absolutely radiant. This is my go to for Summer when I am looking for a bronzed goddess vibe and it delivers every single time. Super compact and perfect for travelling, plus the golden tones are just divine especially on my skin tone. Even Platinum which I thought would be too cool toned for my skin blends out really nicely into a ethereal glow.
Midas Touch is the one I have least used out of the three but I still love it because I don’t have any other colours like this in my collection. I wouldn’t normally go for such cool tones as usually I can’t pull them off very well but in this formula they are so buttery to blend out that I can add a light wash of colour and build up if I want to. Featuring one cream and three baked powders, each of the shades have a metallic finish which add a radiant glow to the skin.
- Solitaire – platinum grey
- Tanzanite – peachy pink
- Rhinestone – cornflower blue
- Cubic Zirconia – white with blue & pink shimmer
All the colours in this palette are unique yet very wearable and I was very surprised about how much I liked each and every shade. Dubbed as a dupe for the ABH Moonchild glow kit, this selection of shades really delivers on pigment and on lasting power. Plus if they aren’t your shades of highlight then they make killer eye shadows.
Sleek have come out with some of the best highlight palettes on the market and with each coming in at only £10 they are super affordable with plenty of product to keep you going. Their powder and cream formulas alike are easy to blend, buildable and last all day without budging. Plus each palette has been curated so that they will suit every skin tone. It’s only a matter of time before Cleopatra’s Kiss and Copperplate end up in my collection.
