Back in July when Desi Perkins and Katy DeGroot announced the launch of their collaboration with Dose of Colours I knew it was going to be hottttt! But when they dropped the video with all the deets of the collection I just knew my life wouldn’t be complete without ALL of it. Now of course my bank balance didn’t stretch to all of it but I did manage to pick up my three favourite pieces from the collection.
Their range has been two years in the making and includes two highlighters, an eye shadow palette, two liquid lipsticks, two lipsticks and one gloss. I managed to pick up “The Girls” eyeshadow palette, the highlighter in ‘Fuego’ and the liquid lipstick in ‘Savage’. I did love the entire collection but these were the 3 pieces that I knew I would get most wear out of. The shades are all phenomenal with insane pigmentation and there is something to suit everyone’s tastes from a bright red, to a deep plum to a classic nude. I prefer brighter colours on the lips so I opted for the liquid lipsticks as opposed to the nudes and although I did initially plan on picking up the gloss, this had sold out by the time I made my purchase.
Lets start with the dreamy packaging. Rose gold? – check, a little bit of glam luxe? – check, a compact size mirror you can actually use to do your makeup touchups? – check. I did think the packaging looked a little cheap when I first watched the video but this could not be further from the truth. The packaging feels so glamorous and luxurious especially when you consider the super affordable prices.
‘Fuego’ is a gorgeous golden sheen which will really pop on your cheekbones especially if you have warm undertones. Alongside Champagne Pop this is my go to highlighter as it just leaves such a warm glow to my skin. ‘Savage’ is a rich black base burgandy with a velvet finish. The Dose of Colours liquid lipsticks are my favourite formula as they are super creamy but dry down to a completely matte finish without drying your lips out. They are incredibly long lasting and I barely needed to top up at all throughout the day.
Onto the star of the show “The Girls” Eyeshadow quad which features four shimmery lid shades, designed to be applied with your finger. Suz is a bright champagne best used when wet, Harpoon is a gorgeous metallic green with gold reflects also best used when wet, Turbosan is an ultra-luxe shadow packed with shimmering reflects and Noli is a bronze shade with gold reflects. Each shade is gorgeous in its own right but Harpoon and Turbosan are I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E and make the entire pallet worthwhile in my opinion. I’m more of a one eyeshadow on the lid and I’m good to go kind of gal so this quad is perfect for me and will come in so handy over the festive period.
Overall, I absolutely love the three pieces I picked up and now I just need to stop myself picking up the rest of the collection when they have their second drop later this month.
