Postcards from Venice

When it comes to travelling I have a list as long as my arm of cities I want to visit and Venice has been at the top of my list since before I can even remember. The idea of a city surrounded by water seemed so magical to me when I was growing up and I would often dream about visiting for myself one day. Well that day finally came when me and Gavin went inter-railing around Italy for our one year anniversary. Starting off on the Amalfi Coast we headed to Milan, then Rome before finishing with two nights in the beautiful city of Venice.

Venice was everything I expected it to be and more. We did arrive into a torrential rainstorm which lasted though our entire first evening and our only full day in the city. But it was an experience nonetheless and I have some of my fondest memories from this trip. I will 100% be planning another trip earlier in the year when the weather isn’t quite so temperamental.

Luckily by the Saturday the rain had stopped and the sun has started to show it’s face so we were able to take one massive walk around the whole city and take in some of the views without hiding underneath 3 waterproof layers and an umbrella. It was the perfect end to our 10 days exploring Italy filled with gelato, authentic wine and beautiful sights. Without a doubt, Venice is one of my favourite cities I have visited and I cannot wait to head back and explore even more.
