“Laugh at yourself first, before anyone else can”Elsa Maxwell
I had so much fun putting together my fashion bloopers last year that I decided to carry on the tradition and compile some of my worst snaps from 2018. Bloggers are often accused of having narcissistic personalities, with their Instagram feeds bursting at the seams with selfies and those oh so candid outfit shots. I recently started working on my Instagram content and I have noticed a significant difference in engagement when I post a shot of myself as oppose to a lifestyle or photography shot. Considering my top nine of 2018 featured 7 shots with me as the main subject, you can guarantee you’ll be seeing a lot more of my face around these parts.
Towards the end of the year we started snapping outfit shots for the ‘gram quite regularly and I feel I have grown to be a lot more comfortable in front of the camera. I’ve nailed a couple of poses which I just rotate through and I am finding that I am liking a lot more of the photos we take because I have stopped being so hard on myself. With that being said I still absolutely hate taking photos in busy places and usually run off up the street or pretend to play on my phone until passers by are long gone and don’t get the chance to pass judgement. I know this is stupid because in reality none of the people care or know who I am and they will all have completely forgotten about even seeing me less than 5 minutes later but I can’t help but feel embarrassed still.
A few years ago the idea of putting together a collection of bloopers would be my worst nightmare but back then my confidence was at rock bottom and I didn’t understand the importance of cutting yourself some slack. Putting together a bloopers reel reminds me of how much progress I have made and how much I have overcome so you can expect to see one of these every year as a constant reminder to myself not to take life too seriously. Plus I just find these kinds of posts absolutely hilarious.
